CURRICULUM

The curriculum utilized for the Diabetes Self-Management Education/Training program is based on current evidence and practice guidelines with criteria for evaluating outcomes. Needs of the individual determine what parts of the curriculum are provided.

NDORI uses the Journey for Control Diabetes Conversation Maps as its curriculum. The highly visual curriculum allows for group participation and interaction, and is designed to empower individuals with diabetes/pre-diabetes to take charge of their health by equipping them with the knowledge, skills and resources they need to better manage their diabetes on a day-to-day basis. Because of the design of the curriculum, it is effective with older children, teens, adults, the elderly and low literacy clients.
