Diabetes is a growing epidemic in America, but for Mississippi it hits too close when identified as one of the states that struggles the most with diabetes and obesity. The primary goal of The National Diabetes & Obesity Research Institute (NDORI) is to remove Mississippi from this unhealthy ranking by engaging our Gulf Coast community through research, education, treatment and prevention.

A major part of NDORI’s purpose is to serve as a hub of information on a variety of diabetes and obesity-related subjects. In this section, a number of resources are available to help the public stay informed about this epidemic that is rapidly growing on a daily basis in our nation, and especially in the state of Mississippi.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. A BMI of 30 or higher would be classified as obese.
